  • Front knit

    A loop knitted by the front bed.

  • Front panel

    A plate which drops the fabric in front of the knitting machine after knitting one piece.

  • Front pile

    The piles on the frontside of a towel.

  • Front shoulder knitting

    Knitting on front shoulder part. Used in contrast to back shoulder knitting.

  • Front/back knit

    A knitting method to knit alternately using front and back needles. Double jersey.

  • Full

    A process in which pressure is applied to fibers such as wool to combine the structures and increase thickness and strength (making it into a felt).

  • Gauge

    The number of needles in one inch (25.4mm). Reference value when converting length (cm) to number of stitches (dot).

  • GGT

    The format used as compatible data by each automatic cutting machine manufacturer. If you create data in this format with another company’s CAD, it can be read by SHIMA SEIKI’s cutting machine. (* Some data may not be cut, so prior verification is required.)

  • Glen check

    A pattern composed of big lattices made by gathering small lattices.

  • Go through/Penetration

    When pattern pieces are dressed onto a 3D model, sometimes they get stuck in the 3D model or overlap each other. If the pattern pieces go through the 3D model, pull it out.

  • Grading point

    Information to input at points where you want to specify the amount of movement when grading. The notation is sometimes abbreviated as [GP]. Displayed as a number and linked to the row number of the pitch table to specify the amount of movement.

  • Grain line

    A line that indicates the direction of the fabric.

  • GRD

    Extension of grading data used in PGM software. The contents of [Pitch Table] are saved.

  • Gripper

    Device to hold edge yarn.

  • Ground

    Main part other than hem knitting and waste knitting.

  • Ground yarn

    The ground yarn of a towel fabric.

  • Group attribute

    A group attribute is set for a project file created in SDS-ONE APEX, and it is displayed at the upper right in the thumbnail in the Picture Directory.

  • Guide

    A point to use as a guide when drawing lines. Input when necessary for drawing, such as the position to be the start/end points of the line and the position where the line passes. You can input on-line or off-line.

  • Hair raising

    A process to increase the thickness of a woven/knitted fabric by scraping fibers from the surface of the fabric with needles. The texture becomes softer and the heat retention increases.

  • Half cardigan

    Rib knitting that alternately knits knit and tuck. Knitting alternately on one side is called half cardigan, and knitting alternately on both sides is called full cardigan.
